How is it Going?

First, We want to say thanks to all the people who have checked out the blog on its first day out in public! I hope you can find some useful information in what I am posting. I want to hear from you. How is it going? What are you finding that works for your family? What challenges are you facing in all that has been happening? How is your school/teacher(s) handling the remote-learning process? Are they doing video conferences? Are they sending work for your child to complete independently? Have they abandoned the idea altogether? Are some of you unable to do remote learning at home? What are the struggles or barriers for you and your family? What do you think would help you overcome, or lessen those struggles? PLEASE reach out and let us know what is working, and not working as you try to navigate this process. We will do my best to help provide suggestions and ideas to facilitate your process.

The whole world is united in this struggle, together. That unification can be a VERY powerful force! If we work together, we can overcome the struggles and make this work! We all have to work together in order to best serve the children with whom we interact. Whether you are a parent, a student, a teacher, or an administrator, the goal is the same: to do the best we can to support students as they continue their journey as Montessori learners. We need to be able to be honest with what works and what doesn’t in order to forge a plan and a system that serves students in the most supportive way possible.

There are Montessorians all over the world who are faced with the very same challenges that we each face, individually. Let’s communicate, problem-solve, and work together to make this a positive experience for all involved. I know that the American Montessori Society has numerous experts working on figuring out how to make this remote-learning experience work. They have a whole page on their website dedicated to that end. Here is a link to their site.

Check it out! Give me us feedback on what you see there that speaks to you, and helps you. What questions do you have? What resources do you need in order to best support your remote learners? Montessori education, in essence, is a hands-on learning environment. The remote-learning process poses challenges to that. Let’s work together to find ways to make this experience as easy, productive, and beneficial as it can be. In order for that to happen, we all need to be communicating, collaborating and problem-solving together. Post a comment, send me an email, or post on my Facebook page to let me know what you need in order to make that happen.
